According to reports published on nfl.com the Philadelphia Eagles have traded cornerback Lito Sheppard to the New York Jets for two draft picks, while veteran free agent safety and Philly mainstay Brian Dawkins agreed to terms with the Denver Broncos on a five year deal. The Ball Says: The Eagles likely should have dealt Sheppard a year ago, but given the way he fell off the map in 2008 they should be happy to have gotten (an ’09 5th and [...]

The Miami Dolphins have re-signed safety Yeremiah Bell to a 4 year, $20 Million contract according to published reports. The Ball Says: Looks like we spoke too soon regarding Gibril Wilson starting at Strong Safety in Miami. Wilson has some experience playing Free Safety (including for the Giants’ 2007 Championship team, when he had 112 total tackles and 4 picks) but this is not good news for Wilson’s IDP value or owners. Bell, who was DB4 in Default IDP Manor [...]

The Ball Says: Told you it wouldn’t take long. This is about as good a landing spot for Wilson as his owners could hope for, as Yeremiah Bell put up 120 total tackles for Miami last year from the Strong Safety spot. Assuming that Bell (himself a [...]
While the 2009 Combine has been littered with injuries, disappoinments, and vanishing linemen (dang, 24 million Andre? Ouch.) at least one defensive player has lived up to the hype. Wake Forest Linebacker Aaron Curry has turned in a strong showing, including the best 40 yard dash time (4.56) and vertical jump (37 Inches) among linebackers. The Ball Says: Curry has solidified his grip on a huge payday with a solid Combine. Already a near-lock as a Top 5 pick there [...]

The Ball Says: This one is murky, at least until we see where he lands, which shouldn’t take long. Although the Top Defensive Back in Default IDP Manor Scoring in 2008, Wilson was [...]
